Typically, my “fun” reads are mysteries and thrillers, followed by historical fiction. This month, my favorite was the latter - recommended by my avid reader husband, who received the novel as a gift from my brother and sister-in-law. Don’t you just love word-of-mouth for finding good books?
The Evening and the Morning by Ken Follett, the prequel to Pillars of the Earth, offers a glimpse into the late Dark Ages, and the difficulties of life in such turbulent, ruthless, and complicated times.
I found it a fast read, despite its length, as this epic tale, with its historical elements and intriguing characters, captivated me.
