The Amalfi Curse: My Favorite Novel for May

The first book I read by Sarah Penner was The Lost Apothecary, her debut novel and still my favorite of her books. And while I enjoyed her second book, The London Seance Society, I was eager for her third, The Amalfi Curse. It did not disappoint and is now my second favorite of her stories.

Written in the genre of magical realism or occult fiction, which is not my typical genre choice, I find that her storytelling draws me in and introduces me to new worlds. The Amalfi Curse is such a book, immersive with its dual timelines, intriguing sorcery, interesting characters, and intertwined love stories.

I’d recommend The Amalfi Curse: A Bewitching Tale of Sunken Treasure, Forbidden Love, and Ancient Magic on the Amalfi Coast as a fun read that lives up to its subtitle.
