Small Business Savvy
This week (12/29/08 through 1/04/09) on Work Matters we look at how small businesses can succeed in tough times.
Did you know the survival rate of new companies is less than 45%? How could this possibly be a good time to launch a small business? How do you find funding to launch a business or keep one going? I have the opportunity to discuss these questions and more with two small business experts.
My first guest is Tom Marquardt a.k.a. The Profit Repairman and the author of My Little Black Book to Success . My second guest is Pat Gage, money expert and creator of 10 Steps to Money System.

December 22, 2008Look Forward to Mondays
This week (12/22/08 through 12/28/08) on Work Matters I ask you, "Is work, work?", "Are you stuck in a job you do not like?", "Are you wondering if you are even in the right job?", "Are you finding it hard to get up on Mondays?"and "Are you wishing you didn't have to go back to your job post-holidays?" If you've answered, "Yes" to any of these questions, discover how you can look forward to Mondays by connecting with your uniqueness and passion.
I first discuss this topic with the Paul Peixoto, author of What on Earth Should I Do: Finding Passion, Purpose and the Life You Desire. Then acclaimed life coach Susan Rae Baker offers her take on the subject. She is the author of The Last Box: A Woman's Guide to Surviving Corporate America. Susan also suggests a website with tests to help listeners determine what types of jobs would suit their personalities.
My latest book also addresses some of these issues...take a look at "Hitting Your Stride" on Amazon.com.

December 15, 2008Developing Your Backbone
This week (12/15/08 through 12/21/08) on Work Matters we talk about some tough questions like: Does your work backbone need development? Are you playing it safe more often than not? Are your convictions strong at home, but weaker at work? What is the best strategy to use for these difficult times?
Joining me to answer these questions is the founder of Giant Leap Consulting, Bill Treasurer. He is the author of the new book, Courage Goes to Work: How to Build Backbones, Boost Performance, and Get Results.
I've also included my regular weekly segments of "Uncommon Sense" and "Something to Think About" where I add my own tips about courage in the workplace.

December 08, 2008Avoiding Slippery Slopes
This week (12/8/08 through 12/14/08) on Work Matters we look at how seemingly upright people get on that slippery slope to unethical behavior and how ethics have played into the current financial meltdown.
Joining me for a real-world take on business ethics is convicted felon turned international speaker, consultant and ethics expert, Patrick Kuhse
Then, in my regular segment "Uncommon Sense" I answer listener questions, and in "Something to Think About" I share a recent survey on ethics in the next generation and talk a little about my perspective on this subject.

December 01, 2008Getting It Done
This week (12/1/08 through 12/07/08) on Work Matters my guests and I tackle the topic of how to effectively handle our mounting workloads, while still pursuing our ideas and life dreams, especially given our diminishing amount of free time.
My first guest, Dave Crenshaw, is a time management expert and the author of the "The Myth of Multitasking: How "Doing It All" Gets Nothing Done." Dave has set up a special quiz for you to find out
"HOW EFFICIENT ARE YOU AT MULTITASKING?"
Then I visit with Rory Chohen, who is an implementation expert and specializes in the psychology of success. She offers specifics on how to make your ideas happen. She shares more thoughts on that subject in her book, "Take 10! How to Achieve Your Someday Dreams in 10 Minutes a Day."
