TIP #57: Take Action
Frustrated about your workplace situation? Unhappy with an issue that hasn't been resolved? Feeling powerless to do anything about the situation? Think again.
Too many people give away their power and influence by doing nothing. They let their frustration or irritation or concerns eat at their motivation and engagement at work.
As Pauline R. Kezer puts it, "When you do nothing, you feel overwhelmed and powerless. But when you get involved, you feel the sense of hope and accomplishment that comes from knowing you are working to make things better."
People who are winning at working, make things better. They take action. They stay engaged, working to solve problems or resolve issues.
Sometimes their actions are small and incremental steps, sometimes large and bold. But always they focus on improving the situation.
People who are winning at working understand that doing something is better than doing nothing. Taking action gets them unstuck. It changes their mindset and their results.
